FOUNDED IN JULY 2008 BY TEN VISUAL ARTISTS, THE PURPOSE OF THE ERGASTULE ASSOCIATION IS TO PROMOTE CONTEMPORARY CREATION, BY POOLING EXPERIENCES AND TOOLS IN A WORKSHOP IN NANCY.

Ergastule wishes to allow visual artists to exchange and learn the skills necessary for the realization of their projects. It is around the production shared in the workshop that all the uniqueness of this association is developed. Ergastule allows artists to find the skills necessary for their work. Ergastule helps to reaffirm the presence of contemporary visual arts in the Nancy conurbation and the Greater Region. The association combines craftsmanship with the historical requirements of contemporary creation. It produces situations conducive to the appearance of novelty. Ergastule promotes training and creates new partnerships with teaching and cultural reference structures in the East of France.

SKILLS

Forming, molding & editing: polyester resins, ceramic, cast and blown glass, elastomeric silicones, latex, plaster, wax, metals.
Graphics: paper editions, books, photoengraving, photo-polymer, press, intaglio, linocut, film and digital photography.
Digital: virtual modeling, synthetic imagery, animation, 3D scanning and printing, 3-axis milling.

EDITIONS AND RESIDENCES

Multiples: Each year the association publishes multiple artists, signed and numbered. These editions aim to disseminate contemporary art and allow the public to acquire an original work in exchange for their financial support. Residences: Ergastule is committed to artists who ask it to advise and help them in their productions. By pooling skills within a workshop, Ergastule promotes access to a large choice of traditional and current technologies.
